LaiOrder

QR table ordering for Malaysian cafes

Order at the table. Pay at the counter.

Customers scan the card on their table and order from their own phone, with no app and no Wi‑Fi password. They pay you the way they always do, and your kitchen only sees what has been paid.

  • RM100 a month, no fee per order
  • Orders and sales stay on your PC
  • As many tablets as you like
Sample: the card on Table 2 with its QR code, and the customer's phone after ordering. It reads: Order number 7, please pay RM 18.44 at the counter; in cash RM 18.45.

How it works

How an order gets from the table to your kitchen

One card on each table, one PC in the cafe, and the tablets you already have. Customers never join your Wi‑Fi: the card works on mobile data.

Nothing is cooked before it's paid

A prank or an order sent from home never reaches the kitchen. An unpaid order clears itself after 20 minutes.

Sold out in one tap

The kitchen or the cashier taps Sold out and the item disappears from every customer's phone at once.

They scan the card on the table

The phone's camera opens your menu at your own address, such as democafe.laiorder.com. Nothing to install.

They order from their phone

Hot or iced, less sugar, a fried egg on the side, a note for the kitchen. Prices come from your PC, never from the phone.

They pay at the counter

The phone says “Order #7, please pay RM 18.44”. Cash, your e‑wallet QR or your card terminal. The cashier taps Payment received.

The kitchen makes it

The table appears on the kitchen screen the moment it's paid. The customer's phone shows the receipt, then Ready.

The screens

Four screens, all run by one PC in your cafe

The Studio runs on your Windows PC. The cashier and the kitchen use any tablet on your Wi‑Fi, joined once with a QR code and six digits. These pictures use the sample cafe from the free DEMO.

Cashier · a tablet at the counter

Who to charge, and who's still waiting

Orders to pay, newest first, beside the tables still cooking. Each table's timer warms up at 15, 20, 25 and 30+ minutes, so you see who has waited longest before they ask.

Every item one square: blank, cooking, done

Paid tables line up oldest first. A table's later drinks join its ticket. Ready items move to Ready to serve, on the kitchen and the cashier at once.

Menu · the customer's own phone

Your menu, your photos, their phone

Categories, options like Hot or iced, add-ons with their price. After paying, the phone keeps the receipt and shows Ready when every item is made.

Menu, sales and settings, in one place

Edit the menu and its photos, see each day's sales by way of paying, export the month for your accountant, print the table cards. Close day checks each way of paying before you switch off.

Your records

Your orders, receipts and sales stay in your cafe

Many QR ordering services keep a cafe's orders on their own servers. LaiOrder keeps them on the PC behind your counter.

On your cafe's PC

C:\LaiOrder
  • Every order and receipt
  • Daily sales, and the month's export for your accountant
  • Your menu and its photos
  • Settings, PINs and the tablets that joined

A copy goes to a USB drive every night and at Close day. Receipts are business records, so LaiOrder keeps them for seven years.

who your cafe is
  • The Google account you sign in with: its email and name
  • Your plan, and the date it's paid until
  • Your one Studio PC: its name and a random id

That's all it needs to tell your PC that your cafe is on PAID.

Receipts

Receipts made for Malaysian cafes

You set these once, when you set up. After that, every receipt carries your details as they were on the day it was issued.

  • SST, if you're registeredReceipts are titled INVOICE, carry your SST number and add 6% on the subtotal and service charge. Not registered? No SST shows anywhere.
  • 5-sen rounding for cash onlyBank Negara's rounding applies when cash is paid. An e‑wallet or a card pays the exact amount.
  • Numbers that never repeatYour own format, like DC-000107. A mistake is voided with a reason, and its number stays used.
  • The receipt on their phoneIt appears the moment you tap Payment received. A QR at the counter opens it again for anyone who closed the page.
  • Already have a till?LaiOrder shows an order summary instead, so one sale never has two receipts.
  • e‑Invoice requestsA request link on the receipt, and the month's sales export for your accountant.

Ask your accountant to look at a sample receipt before your first day.

Paying

Customers pay you the way they already do

Five ways on the cashier's screen, always in this order.

  • AlwaysCashCash given, then the change.
  • Your pickE‑walletYour QR, the exact amount.
  • Your pickE‑walletYour QR, the exact amount.
  • Your pickE‑walletYour QR, the exact amount.
  • AlwaysCardYour own terminal.
  • DuitNow QR
  • Touch 'n Go
  • GrabPay
  • Boost
  • ShopeePay

Upload the QR your bank or merchant app gives you, and the cashier shows it with the exact amount. LaiOrder never touches the money: the cashier checks the merchant app, the sound box or the terminal slip, then taps Payment received. That's why there's no fee per order.

What it doesn't do

What LaiOrder leaves to you

LaiOrder handles the order, the counter and the kitchen. These stay with you and the tools you already use.

  • Taking the moneyYour drawer, your QR, your card terminal.
  • AccountingThe month's sales export goes to your accountant.
  • MyInvois e‑invoicesA request link on the receipt and the export only.
  • StockSold out, yes. Stock counts, no.
  • Staff and payrollOne staff PIN for the tablets.
  • Delivery appsGrabFood and the rest stay separate.
  • ReservationsNot built.
  • LoyaltyNo points, no stamps.

Best for a cafe without a till. With one, the cashier rings each order into the till as well, and LaiOrder shows order summaries instead of receipts.

Questions

What cafes ask first

Do my customers need an app?

No. The phone's camera opens your menu in the browser. They don't need your Wi‑Fi password either: the card works on mobile data.

Does LaiOrder take the payment?

No. Customers pay at your counter with cash, your e‑wallet QR or your card terminal, and the cashier taps Payment received. LaiOrder never touches the money, so there's no fee per order.

What if someone sends an order from home as a prank?

It never reaches the kitchen. The kitchen only sees orders the cashier has marked paid, and an unpaid order clears itself after 20 minutes.

What happens when the internet goes down?

The cashier and kitchen tablets keep working on your Wi‑Fi, and the cashier takes orders with New order. Customers' phones can't reach your menu until the internet is back.

Your PC checks in with laiorder.com every hour. After 24 hours without it, LaiOrder stops taking orders until it reconnects, and a banner warns you from 12 hours.

Where are my orders and sales kept?

On your PC, in C:\LaiOrder, with a copy to a USB drive every night. laiorder.com only knows who your cafe is and its plan.

We already have a till. Can we still use LaiOrder?

Yes. Your till keeps issuing the receipts and LaiOrder shows an order summary instead, so one sale never has two. The cashier rings each order into the till as well. You choose this once when you set up.

Does it handle SST and service charge?

Yes, if you turn them on. SST-registered cafes get receipts titled INVOICE with their SST number, and 6% on the subtotal plus service charge. Menu prices can be before SST (the usual) or include it. Ask your accountant to check a sample receipt.

What if an item runs out?

Tap Sold out on the kitchen or cashier tablet. It disappears from every customer's phone at once, and an order holding it is refused, naming the item.

How many tablets can we use?

As many as you like. Each joins your Studio PC once, on your Wi‑Fi, with a QR code and six digits. One Studio PC per account.

How much does LaiOrder cost?

RM100 a month, flat, for PAID: no fee per order and no setup fee. The DEMO is free and has every screen with a sample cafe, so you can try it at your counter before paying anything.

What happens if we stop paying?

LaiOrder goes back to DEMO screens. Your records stay on your PC, untouched, and come back the day you renew.
